The renowned town of Banff is nestled in the Rockies in Banff National Park. You are guaranteed a memorable trip here, whichever season you decide to visit. The magnificence of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains is undeniably one of Canada’s highlights, and the views, sights and adventure opportunities are spectacular year round.
One of the focal points of the town is the spectacular Banff Springs Hotel, a towering castle-like building that is one of the most unforgettable pieces of architecture in the country. The hotel is filled with shops and world class resort facilities, not to mention endless halls and ballrooms that are decorated in old world themes. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, it’s well worth taking a stroll here to bask in the elegant atmosphere or have a meal in one of the great restaurants.
Banff offers a wide array of unique stores, boutiques and speciality shops, mostly clustered along the main street, Banff Avenue. One of the most popular and well-known shops in town is Welch’s Chocolate, which stocks a mouth-watering variety of sweets and chocolates from all over the world. There are often queues snaking out the door and along the street during peak tourist seasons. Banff Avenue is also packed with wonderful cafés and restaurants that serve a variety of dishes, from fast-food to gourmet and ethic cuisine from all over the globe.
Located in the magnificent Canadian Rockies, Banff has plenty of natural wilderness nearby which is easily explored by car. One of the main reasons that people choose to visit and stay in Banff is its proximity to some of the best ski resorts in the world. Sunshine Village, located eight kilometres west of Banff, is an incredible mountain that actually stretches into the province of British Columbia.
