Heathrow Airport is a huge complex with superb facilities, boasting four terminals and handling 60 million passengers per year, making it one of the world’s busiest airports. It is also one of the world’s most important air hubs, with many carriers flying to European and worldwide destinations.

Terminal 1 handles domestic flights; Terminal 2 mainly services European destinations; and Terminals 3 and 4 handle long-haul flights. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are connected by underground walkways. Transfer between Terminals 1, 2 and 3, to Terminal 4, is free on the Heathrow Express train.

There are ATMs and bureaux de change throughout the airport, as well as post offices in Terminals 2 and 4. Left-luggage offices can be found in each terminal, and there is a main lost property office, chapels and health centres.

There are numerous restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets, coffee shops, pubs and sandwich bars throughout the airport, as well as a wide variety of duty-free and regular shops. There are chemists in all terminals, and the Terminal 1 chemist dispenses prescriptions.

There is a Minicom information line for the hearing impaired, wheelchair-accessible telephones and text telephones, as well as induction loops. Reserved seating and disabled toilets are also available. The Help Bus is a free wheelchair-accessible bus service operating between all terminals and the central bus station.

Information desks are available in each terminal. Additionally, help desks, where passengers can seek assistance by using a courtesy phone, are also located throughout the airport.

The Heathrow Express runs to London Paddington, and the London Underground’s Piccadilly Line will take passengers into central London rom two stops at the airport, one for Terminal 4 and another serving the other three. The A2 Airbus shuttle runs to London King’s Cross, and numerous local buses stop at the central bus station and Terminal 4. At night, the N9 bus service travels to central London. Coaches connect the airport to more than 500 destinations throughout the UK.

By car, Terminals 1, 2 and 3 can be reached via the following roads: M4 (junction 4), M25 (junction 15) and A4 (local road). Terminal 4 is reached via: M4 (junction 3), M25 (junction 14) and A30 (local road).
Each terminal has its own short-stay parking lot. A free shuttle service runs between the terminals and the long-term and business car parks. Parking for the disabled is also provided, and valet and chauffeured parking is available. Motorbikes can park free of charge at designated areas.
