Sotogrande is situated 21kms east of the legendary rock of Gibraltar. The town stretches from the Mediterranean's sandy beaches back into the foothills, providing contrasting views of sea, rolling hills, cork forests and the green fairways of the various golf courses.
No expense was spared in the creation of this purpose-built resort, one of the finest in the world. The infrastructure is unique; as well as low building densities, strict architectural control and respect for the natural beauty of these privileged surroundings was considered. Set among almost 2,000 hectares of lush land are leafy villa suburbs, riverside properties, golf courses, country estates, and the marina, which forms the lively hub of Sotogrande.
Sports enthusiasts can choose from tennis, squash, fitness, polo, horseback riding and every water sport imaginable. Golfers will enjoy Valderrama, officially rated as the number 1 golf course in Europe. Nature lovers are also in for a treat in this natural paradise where beach, river, verdant cork forest hills and rustic land preserve a country atmosphere protected by Sotogrande's controlled development.
Puerto Sotogrande (marina) has nearly 600 berths catering for vessels of up to 72 metres. The Sotogrande sailing school offers all the facilities required to provide expert sailing and windsurfing instruction for beginners and advanced students.
Sotogrande’s beaches are secluded and offer a serenity that is often difficult to find on the Costa del Sol. Here you can choose from over 20km of coastline with stunning views of Gibraltar and North Africa. Within Sotogrande is the Guadiaro Estuary, a protected natural area of 27 hectares of marshland on the west bank of the estuary at the mouth of the River Guadiaro. This is a birdwatcher’s paradise and a relaxing place to stroll along wooden walkways.
Sotogrande is near other well known cities in Andalusia. From here, take daytrips to Seville, Granada, or Jerez, famous for its sherry Bodegas. Additionally, you can ski in the Sierra Nevadas, just four hours away. Of course, make time to visit the famous Rock of Gibraltar, only 15 minutes away.
Sotogrande is less than an hour by car from Malaga on the new motorway, and 15 minutes from Gibraltar. The N340 goes past the resort, and there are several entrances. Visitors can fly into Malaga Airport or Gibraltar Airport.
