Vancouver - sky guide

With its mixture of style, culture and stunning Pacific coast scenery, it is easy to see why Vancouver is such a popular destination.
Situated on a tiny peninsula, and surrounded by a multitude of bays, rivers and inlets, Vancouver is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city boasting bars, historical architecture and a working Chinese market.
The city peninsula is ideal for exploring on foot. You can lose yourself in the bustling Chinatown, relax in the Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden (the only full size Chinese garden outside China), or explore the complex of shops, theatres and restaurants at the Pacific Centre (Robson and Howe Sts). Finally, Stanley Park, at the tip of the peninsula, offers the best views of the coastal mountains.
A visit to the city wouldn't be complete without taking in Gastown (on Walter Street) where you will find restaurants, galleries, bars and boutiques housed in 19th century office conversions.
A short car or bus ride will take you into the wonderful scenery that surrounds the city. Lynn Canyon Park, with its wooded rainforest vegetation, hiking trails, picnic spots and swimming pools is ideal for a day trip. Alternatively, head for Mt Seymour Provincial Park, whose chairlift to the summit offers a relaxing way to take in the scenery. Slightly further away is Vancouver Island, with its amazing western Pacific coastline.
The city is serviced by Vancouver International Airport, the largest international airport on Canada's west coast, which offers connections to many international and domestic cities. The airport is just a short shuttle ride from the city centre (30 minutes).
